Dr. Thomas P.M. Barnett is a foreign policy voice I respect. Don’t always agree with him, but you always know where he stands. Barnett’s big issue is connectivity – using economic policy to integrate more states into the international community. When it comes to grand strategy, Barnett is all about marshalling global resources to take out bad actors.
So, I take notice when he says that McCain is “either goofy or a fear-monger.” And he’s got it right – McCain is either completely lost or he’s just playing games. Either way, he’s not demonstrating a strong grasp of the 21st century threat environment. He’s just not fit to be the commander-in-chief.
